Behind the Bakery
Kristen has been baking for over a decade. What began as Christmastime hobby soon turned into a labor of love as she began baking for friends, family, and her church. In 2022, she was faced with a challenge: after years of unexplained health struggles, Kristen and both of her daughters were diagnosed with Celiac disease. This diagnosis was met with tears, as she faced a huge lifestyle change and the loss of her “love language” of baking. But even Celiac disease couldn’t keep her down! Kristen set out on a mission: take all the recipes she spent years perfecting, and find a way to make them gluten free without sacrificing flavor. Mission accomplished!
After being asked to share her gluten free treats countless times, Kristen decided to open The Monarch Cottage with her daughters. The goal: to share the joy of Celiac-safe treats with the community!
